With the arrival of our new free lending library box, we decided it was time to rundown our list of the best places to relax and get into a good book.
With all of the green space and some fantastic local cafes, bars and coffee shops surrounding Aire Park we’re spoilt for choice, but here’s our shortlist.
Central Park
First we have Central Park, our large informal green space framed by trees. There’s plenty of benches and deck chairs, or simply bring your own picnic blanket and enjoy a chilled read in the sun or under the leafy canopy of our central tree. Having been open a year, this space is already becoming a hive of activity both for local residents and visitors. So whether you’re catching up with Mr Darcy or simply people watching, when the sun is shining it’s a hard spot to beat.

The Attic
Up next we have The Attic, a cosy neighbourhood café and restaurant with inviting interiors and comfy seating. Great for a catch up with friends, or a nice spot to read with a hot drink and a pastry, The Attic is located just across from Central Park.
However don’t just think you have to sit indoors, there’s outdoor tables for the sunnier afternoons too, perfect for enjoying one of their juices or coffees with your book.

The Tetley and Tetley Green
Next we have The Tetley, the iconic building which sits at the heart of Aire Park. The former headquarters of The Tetley Brewery, once the largest producers of cask beer in the world, this historic site is now a great spot for a classic pub lunch, an afterwork pint or to devour a chapter or too.
If the pub-vibe isn’t for you, then enjoy a mid-morning cappuccino or flat white pick me up. The Tetley uses one of our favourite blends of North Star coffee in their hot drinks.
Unwind in the surrounding Tetley Green, a soft terraced space with built in seating. Whether your nestled up with a book inside the Tetley, on the outdoor seating, or on the Tetley Green, we’re certain you’ll have a great time.

Theatre Gardens at Aire Park
Head to the Theatre Gardens, a lovely peaceful space, with raised beds and plenty of seating. Surrounded by greenery, the Theatre Gardens are ideal if you’re looking to get some fresh air and unwind with a quiet read in the sun.

Café Brigante
Finally we have Café Brigante, an Italian inspired café serving fresh focaccia sandwiches and paninis, perfect for your lunch break.
Known for its viral tiramisu pots which come in an array of flavours, sit in with your book or take out a sweet treat to enjoy in the park. This café has a chilled, welcoming feel, making it a lovely reading location.
Visit us
With the summer holidays now in full swing, we’re excited to welcome more of our local community to enjoy everything Aire Park and the surrounding independent hospitality businesses have to offer.
With new businesses soon to join our community, we have plenty of space for those looking for a relaxing screen-free lunch break on Leeds’ South Bank.
